Letter from NAS to ACTED on study materials and their response Mon, Dec 30th, 2013 - 08:27:56 AM

Dear Rotimi,

Many thanks for your email.  It’s nice to hear about the growth in student numbers in Nigeria.

I think much of what you need is already in place – we already have quite a few customers from Nigeria.

Our main distance-learning course, called the CMP, is already available to purchase by students in Nigeria at a significant discount.  (Details at  If students buy an e-Book instead of a hard copy then they can also save on despatch costs.

We’re also offering more online tuition than ever before, which is proving particularly popular with our overseas students, as you’d expect.

Our “Online Classroom” is now available in all the main compulsory subjects, so that’s CT1-CT8 and CA1, and we hope to release it in CA3 and a couple of ST subjects later this year as well.  The Online Classroom is an asynchronous product.  It contains pre-recorded tutorials to help students work through, understand and apply the material they see in the notes.  The asynchronous feature gives students the maximum flexibility to study when and where they want.   The Online Classroom is also available to students in Nigeria at a significant discount.  For example, for the 2014 exams, it will cost £75 in the CT subjects, compared with the full price of £245.  We probably won’t be able to keep this low price indefinitely, but it’s nice for now.

Next session (for the April 2014 exams), we are also offering Live Online Tutorials, which I think are likely to be more viable a proposition than fly-in-fly-out tutorials.  These aim to replicate as closely as possible the experience had on a face-to-face tutorial.  I’m afraid that we don’t offer discounts for these but at £110+vat per day, they are cheaper than a face-to-face tutorial and I hope would be affordable for any companies sponsoring students.

We also offer a big choice of Revision Products, most of which are relatively affordable.

I hope this gives you the information you need.  I’d be very happy to expand further if required, and perhaps work with you to maximise awareness of what we have to offer students in Nigeria.

Kind regards
