Job Summary
The position holder offers professional expertise and advice in functional areas with responsibility for operational departments covering a wide span of complex but inter-related issues and lending support to the Managing Director in giving strategic direction to the company.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the overall operations of the Actuarial Services function
  2. Coordinate the half-yearly Financial Soundness Valuations (FSV)
  3. Ensure the appropriateness of the methodologies and underlying models used, as well as assumptions made in the FSV
  4. Prepare annual mortality investigations report
  5. Prepare defined actuarial reports to Executive Management and Partners
  6. Ensure the adequacy of reinsurance arrangements and underwriting policies
  7. Provide technical support in the development/review, pricing and implementation of new products
  8. Prepare annual budget numbers for the company
  9. Prepare a yearly Financial Condition Report of the company
  10. IFRS17 implementation

Experience/Knowledge required

  • Working knowledge of Prophet software
  • Experience in Actuarial Valuations – Analysis of Surplus and Embedded Values
  • Experience in product development and pricing
  • Technical knowledge in data analysis
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information
  • Strong IT/computer skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good business sense
