Discount Rate Monthly Report: December 2023
The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has mandated the Nigerian Actuarial Society (NAS) to provide monthly discount rate data for calculating internal month-end liabilities, available for industry-use. The NAS Discount Rate Committee (DRC) has been inaugurated for this purpose and comprises of representatives from Nigerian insurance companies, consultancies and NAICOM.
The specifics of the methodology used for the calculation of the risk-free rates have been set out in the documents in the folder linked below. These include the bonds available, their features and additional details included in our calculation. Spreadsheets of the Yield Curves computed from October 2022 – December 2023 are included in the folder.
